Eucratea loricata

Eucratea loricata is an erect bryozoan forming tall dense clumps about 10 cm in height. Colonies are whitish-brown in colour, highly branched and are said to resemble miniature poplar trees. The species is able to colonise a variety of substrates, from the lower shore down to 75 m and occasionally deeper. Colonies may also be found washed up along the strand line.

The species occurs throughout world and may be locally common on British coasts.
