Prostomium with antennae and palps; palps simple. Prostomium not strongly produced anteriorly; with one pair of eyespots (near posterior margin); Eyespots absent from anterior chaetigers. Pharynx with bifid terminal papillae present. Subterminal papillae present; Enlarged median subdistal dorsal papilla present (long). Pharynx with 14 rows of subdistal papillae (each row divided proximally into 2 rows of smaller papillae). Dorsal interramal cirri present, from chaetiger 4, cirriform, roughly circular in cross-section or flattened, foliose, curve inward initially (involute). Ventral interramal cirri absent. Specialised dentate chaetae absent from notopodium of chaetiger 1. Barred chaetae present in preacicular fascicles. Lyrate chaetae present among postacicular chaetae of middle and posterior chaetigers.
Within Australia: South-eastern Australia and North-eastern Australia; Also from wider localities inluding New Guinea, New Zealand, Indian Ocean (Hartman, 1950; Day, 1967).
