Listed as Dimorphaphorura alna by Bellinger et al. (1996 – 2015) but also as Dimorphaphorura alnus by Weiner & Kaprus’ (2014: 6) and as Micraphorura alnus by Babenko & Fjellberg (2015: 57). The original specific name of the species was alnus [after Alnus (= alder)], which as a likely noun in apposition, should not change spelling when recombined to a genus of a different gender.

Holotype: 1 female (slide) USSR. Magadan Region, Aborigen [field station, 61 o 56 ’ N, 149 o 40 ’ E], 27. vii. 1979, deep, moist Pinus pumila litter, A. Fjellberg (CNC 165044, Type No. 20108). Paratypes: 5 males (slide), same collection as holotype. (CNC 165130, Type No. 20111); 1 (slide) as above except 25. vii. 1979, Alnus litter in dense thickets (CNC 165129, Type No. 20110); 1 male (slide) USSR. Chukotka, Chaun Bay [68 o 44 ’ N, 170 o 36 ’ E], ix. 1975, S. F. MacLean (CNC 165128, Type No. 20109).
