This species is listed as valid by Christiansen & Bellinger (1980 – 1981: 226), but Stach (1949: 232) considered it a synonym of X. brevisimilis Stach, and Gisin (1944 b: 129) considered it a synonym of X. maritima Tullberg, 1869; Gama (1988) did not include it in the Xenylla world checklist.
