Remarks. Although the morphology of the male region of M. saigonensis is similar to that of M. peguana, the distance between male pores is totally different among the two species. Thai (1983, 2000) had suggested that saigonensis is a synonym of " Pheretima " bahli Gates, 1945; however, Blakemore (2005, 2016) restored both saigonensis and bangoiana separately from Metaphire bahli.
