Distribution and habitat. Kentropyx vanzoi is distributed in the western portion of Brazilian Cerrado and in open vegetation enclaves of southwestern Brazilian Amazonia (Fig. 8). It also occurs in Bolivia (Montero et al. 1995). In Brazil it is known from the states of Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Goiás. Kentropyx vanzoi is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits savannas with sparse stunted trees and sandy soil, where it is found on the open ground, in clump of grasses, and in cavities in termite nests (Vitt & Caldwell 1993; Gainsbury & Colli 2003).
