Distribution and habitat. Loxopholis osvaldoi is endemic to southern Brazilian Amazonia, distributed between the Xingu River and Purus river system (Fig. 13). It is known from the states of Pará, Amazonas, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. Loxopholis is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary and secondary terra firme forests, where it is found among leaf litter (Ávila-Pires 1995; Kawashita-Ribeiro et al. 2011; Waldez et al. 2013).
