Distribution and habitat. Arthrosaura reticulata is endemic to, and widespread in, Amazonia, occurring in Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru (Fig. 5). In Brazil, it is known from the states of Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Amazonas, Roraima, Acre, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. Arthrosaura reticulata is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary and secondary forests, frequently associated with water (near streams, riverbanks and swampy areas — Hoogmoed & Ávila-Pires 1992; Barrio-Amorós & Duellman 2009; Mott et al. 2011; Whitworth & Beirne 2011; Pantoja & Fraga 2012), where it is usually found among leaf litter (Duellman 1978; Martins 1991 b), hiding under logs, and in holes among roots of trees or shrubs (Vitt et al. 2008).
