Descriptions(2)

Short description. Male. Clypeus: basal process broad and apically bilobed; outer lobe rounded and smooth or with a small acute projection on inner side which is not seen in some cases; inner lobe more conical and sharp-pointed; lamelliform process small and rounded; apical joint strongly curved inwards, apically blunt and broad (Fig. 3 A 1, A 2). Cercopods: outer margins strongly convex with setae along entire length; small spine like setae on inner margins along entire length (Fig. 3 B). Abdominal spines: pair of small spines on ventral surface of last abdominal segment (Fig. 3 C). Gonopods: basal part with large rounded projection on median margin and small, but distinct, peg-like projection distally on lateral margin (Fig. 3 C). Female. Antenna: proximal four fifths cylindrical; distal fifth narrowing to tapering point (Fig. 4 A). Genital segments inconspicuously swollen and brood pouch oval shaped (Fig. 4 B). Cercopods: margins straight with long plumose setae along outer margins and distal two thirds of inner margins; proximal thirds inner margins with short plumose setae (Fig. 4 C). Evolutionary relationships of taxa.

The results indicated that the Neighbor-Joining method divided Branchipodopsis affinis and all other species of the genus to two main clades, although with lower bootstrap values (Fig. 5). Based on these results the B. affinis and Artemia urmiana groups are comprised of two sub-clades, in which the B. affinis represents % 80 separation clade from the Artemia urmiana groups.

This dataset contains the digitized treatments in Plazi based on the original journal article Kangarloei, Behrooz Atashbar, Roohi, Maryam (2021): First record of Branchipodopsis affinis Sars, 1901 (Crustacea: Anostraca) in Iran (Bazargan, West Azerbaijan): Ecology, Morphology and Genetics. Abstract

We report the first record of Branchipodopsis affinis Sars, 1901 (Branchiopoda, Anostraca) from Iran. The specimens were collected in small temporary pools in the Bazargan area located in West Azerbaijan province, in spring 2015. Details on the biogeography, ecology and morphology of this species are provided. The DNA sequence data (COI) for this species is reported for the first time, which can be used in the identification of species on molecular terms and generation of information regarding the evolutionary relationship of the species in future. Also, the new finding is an important contribution to the knowledge of the anostracan fauna from Iran.
