M: Neumann (1899), under the name Aponomma concolor and given its current status in Klompen et al. (2002) F: Roberts (1953), under the name Aponomma tropicum, a synonym of Amblyomma concolor N: Roberts (1970), under the name Aponomma concolor L: Roberts (1969), under the name Aponomma concolor Redescriptions M: Roberts (1970), Kaufman (1972) and Santos Dias (1993), both under the name Aponomma concolor F: Roberts (1970) and Kaufman (1972), all under the name Aponomma concolor N: Roberts (1970), under the name Aponomma concolor L: none Note: the female of Bothriocroton oudemansi described in Schulze (1936 b, under the name Aponomma oudemansi) is, in fact, Bothriocroton concolor, as explained in Beati et al. (2008), and this applies as well to the female description of Bothriocroton oudemansi in Santos Dias (1993), which is based on Schulze (1936 b). The confusion between the females of these species was noted by Kaufman (1972), who considered (under Aponomma) Bothriocroton oudemansi a synonym of Bothriocroton concolor. Nevertheless, Santos Dias (1993) treated both species as valid, a fact later confirmed by Beati et al. (2008).
