Type locality: Ukraine, Zakarpatska province, Tyachivsky district, near the village Mala Ugolka, Druzhba cave, Samantha hall. Furcatus ­ group. Total length, 1.3 mm. Unpigmented, eyes 1 + 1. Cephalic spinelike setae absent. Ant. III swollen basally. Ant. IV divided into 8 subsegments. All ungues with inner tooth, first without tunica, all unguiculi with corner tooth and apical filament. Dental chaetotaxy shown in table III, ventral dental formula 3: 2: 1: 1. Anal valve chaetotaxy as in table II. Biogeographic zone 2 a.

ABSTRACT

The seventeen Asian species and two species from the East Europe (Moravia and Ukraine) of the genus Arrhopalites (Collembola: Arrhopalitidae) are diagnosed, discussed and compared. The Japanese species are re­described and two new Japanese epigaeic species, A. yosii sp. n. and A. ezoensis sp. n., are described and illustrated. A key for identification is given.
