Justification: These Indian records seem to be either invalid or unconfirmable: Fernando, 2011: 32 – 33, pl. 11, fig. 1 – 1 c (Nagapatinam); Fernando et al. 2017: pl. 24, fig. 1 – 1 c (Nagapatinam). Literature analysis: This species, which was originally described from the Andamans, remains difficult to identify because of Thomson & Simpson’s minimal description and sclerites illustrations. It does, however, have robust, heavily warted spindles that clearly do not match the “ long and slender spindles with sparsely placed minute tubercles ” of the specimen described in the identical accounts by Fernando (2011) and Fernando et al. (2017). Rao & Devi (2003) just listed the species.
Ramvilas, Ghosh, Alderslade, Philip, Ranjeet, Kutty (2023): The taxonomy of Indian gorgonians: an assessment of the descriptive records of gorgonians (Anthozoa: Octocorallia: Alcyonacea) recorded as occurring in the territorial waters of India, along with neighbouring regions and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and the highlighting of perceived unethical practice.
