It is a planktonic species, being abundant in spring and autumn, it occurs in water bodies of any type, being the most common for lakes, reservoirs and ponds. B. fatalis is an East Asian species distributed from the Russian Far East to Malaysia. For a description see Tanaka, 2000; the description of a male is given by Kotov et al. (2009).
