Atelopus mucubajiensis

Remarks: In September 2004, the last known individual was delivered to CBA (Barrio-Amorós 2004). Soon afterwards a project was begun to search for the species (Barrio-Amorós 2009 a), but unfortunately this effort yielded no positive results despite an intensive search effort. The female individual died a few weeks after being received and tested weakly positive for the presence of the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd; Lampo et al. 2007).
