The checklist consists of species of fauna of Ukraine protected according to the Appendix II of the Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention), 1979. In Ukraine this convention was signed on August 17th, 1998, ratified on January 5th, 1999 with subsequent entry into force on May 1st, 1999.
